When did we vote to say that the government can listen to every conversation
monitor every line of type that flows from our fingers?
Did I miss that ballot box?
Where is the politician who is supposed to damn this intrusion?
Jimmy Stewart all alone and proud and indignant got voted out
After the Lobbyiests gave someone else the money to get elected
occasionally the media creates a camelot
to siphon the steam off our dreams
before we explode
in their cities
The unraveling dream lets the paranoids take the podium
Now we listen silently to people we once would have dismissed as lunatics
They are listening to everyone
The revolutionary is squashed
before a renewed revival sweeps across the mad masses
Before... we can stand up and tell them
NO
We did not vote you into power to spy on us
Give up this power
or we'll bring your asses down
